Jimmy TehFreak talks E3 (Microsoft)

Just random notes from Jimmy TehFreak while watching the Microsoft E3 press conference - this will be updated into Monday Afternoon. Maybe a video update later - who knows.
Times are in Mountain time (2 hours before eastern) If the text goes wonky- it means I felt better just copying from my own twitter (@JimmyTehFreak) rather than retype the whole message.

(10:35)-EA Sports announce kinect features for Madden 13 and FIFA 13.. primarily voice recognition (thankfully not body detection) - great idea but why couldn't consoles already do this? We've had microphones for 2 gens already.
(10:43)-FIFA13 to punish players with yellow flags if you swear during gameplay. That is hilarious - import that feature into Call of Duty - I dare you.
(10:47)-Tom Hanks stars in Fable Kinect.. Beware the Sacrilege, Beware the Magic.
(10:56)-Someone gave Microsoft dudes the wrong years kinect info, a whole conference about the voice recognition being tied into Bing and Netflix.. doesn't the 360 already do that?
UPDATE - is their big thing that kinect understands Spanish now? Because that still isn't a big deal.
(11:00)-Blah Blah NBA coming to XBOX.. if you pay extra.. Why is this NEW? Oh, now Center Ice is as well.. wait.. doesn't SONY already do that?
(11:03) - Microsoft Kinect presents Chelsea Dagger by the Fratellis.. why not. Basically they're still just promoting that you can get your sports packages on demand.  Looks like UFC will get added soon as well.
(11:05)-Oh god Microsoft is announcing their own itunes/spotify.. XBox Music.. so this whole press conference is about how the Kinect is a failure for gaming so they're making it a voice activated remote control.. you know there was a time when I was looking forward to this press conference.. 3 years of the same thing..
(11:08)-Microsoft presents.. Nike Kinect.. you know.. this is in incredibly bad taste.. but considering the history of Microsoft electronics built in east-asian sweatshops.. Nike seems like a natural fit.
(11:11)-Okay so Kinect Training+ is a cross between EA Active and a personal trainer. It judges technique, etc, etc and monitors your progress over weeks and months with WiiFit regular reminders.. it's a cool concept but so was the Kinect, I expect it to really not work properly unless you are a specific body type.
(11:12)-Uh.. device pairing? Did Microsoft employees just go to work on Friday and go "OH CRAP E3'S NEXT WEEK WHAT DO WE DO?"
(11:13)-Micosoft SmartGlass is a horrible waste of battery life.. of ALL your devices.. this has gotta be a prank. You watch a TV show and your tablet will automatically load actor bios and gossip sites.. like we want to look at that at all opportunities.
(11:16)-All I'm saying, if I'm watching NHL Hockey - I want to watch NHL Hockey on my tv - I don't want my smartphone looking up salary cap numbers and my ipad  spamming videos from the teams website - I want to watch the game.. on my tv.. crazy no?
(11:19)-OMG Internet Explorer is now coming to the XBox.. that.. is..hilarious.. I don't think my idea was too far off - they woke up and went "OMG E3 is next week and we've got nothing"
(11:21)-Okay Okay I admit using your tablet or phone as a mouse is a better idea than the Playstation Move Wand.. but now my mind wonders.. if the Kinect Voice denounces foul language.. what happens when you say something like "Xbox, web hub, bing search, ukranian contortionist pornography"
(11:25)-Preview and gameplay for the new Tomb Raider game.. why does everything need to be a gorey FPS these days? Yoshi's Cookie: Baking with Blood.. coming soon.
UPDATE - Third Person Shooter.. my bad.. I suddenly Miss Unreal Tournament.
(11:30)-Microsoft Exclusive premier - Ascend - because God of War has already been done.

(11:31)-while making fun of Ascend and Lococycle I completely missed the trailer for Matter.. guess it didn't really matter.
(11:36)-Resident Evil 6 looks really pretty for what it is.. wait.. is it a 360 exclusive? That's not cool.. it'll look so much nicer on blu-ray.
(11:38)-No I didn't comment on Halo 4.. it's Halo 4.. Kellen Nitro will have all the nice things to say about it, despite not owning an xbox and I'm pretty sure never playing a Halo Game.. he will like Halo 4 because it'll mean a new engine for Red vs Blue season 10.
(11:38)-Wreckateer.. because Angry Birds has already been done.. actually it seems more like a ripoff of PAIN.. which Nitro and I should talk about on the site more.

(11:41)-Oh god a south park game.. those always go well, right? Luv Shack.
(11:43)-Trey Parker and Matt Stone took a huge dig at that stupid Kinect Glass concept.  Good call. We are to make our own characters.. love this idea.  Yeah if it's an exclusive I'd consider buying it for this.
UPDATE - the South Park game will come out for Sony as well. Phew.  Now for an obligatory Usher Concert.. but he's wearing a shirt. That isnt authentic.
(11:47)- E3 breaks into an obligatory Usher Concert.. and the dude has his shirt on.. this seems unauthentic.. arent they plugging Dance Central 3? How much you wanna bet Trey Parker and Matt Stone are backstage going "our lives are complete - we just opened for USHER! YEAH!"
(11:50) - ten minutes left in the conference.. Call of Duty Black Ops 2.. wow that looks legit pretty.. like L.A. Noire pretty. Still think it'd be funny if they impliment that anti-swearing feature that FIFA13 will have.
(11:54)-Call of Duty: Prom Night with the President. THAT's how you sell a game title.
(11:57)-Yup they are really going to show us 10 minutes of Call of Duty footage to finish off the conference.. isn't that what Youtube is for?
(12:00)-Uh.. Call of Duty: Black Overtime? How much of this can you guys show us? It's the fraking game, we get it. It looked prettier 8 minutes ago.
(12:02)-Kind of an anticlimactic finish. Overall not a strong conference from Microsoft, especially since the best parts weren't Microsoft Exclusive.  Woulda been nice to see a price drop or maybe a new console repack with different games, something - ah well.

Electronic Arts is to have a press conference as well in a couple hours - don't know if I'll stick around for it.  If not - tune in tonight at 7pm MST (9pm eastern) for the Sony Conference - and 10am (noon eastern) tomorrow for the Nintendo conferences.
